Eye On the World #5

Polly Ticks says … Economic disaster if we leave the EU? We’re the 5th largest economy. If we go down so does the world. Deals will be done. Quickly.

Guru Tony says … Boaty McBoatface may not be the name of new polar research vessel. Why not? Get a sense of humour! How about Global Warmer?

Eye On the World #2

Polly Ticks says … For zombies in House of Commons make them disclose all. But innovators have baggage. Today Winston Churchill wouldn’t get in.

Prof Isaac Galistein says … Fracking. Economics? Sound. Security? Good. Geology? Dubious. Environment? Disastrous – leaving nothing secure. Fracked.

Sinking Tree

Guru Tony says … Labour leader says climate change an issue of national security following floods. Yea, right! Just in time to use it for election campaign.
My Environment page

Pappa Razzi says … UK Tory party logo: big green tree sinking into the blue. In view of the floods, Drowning Street ought to take a look at that. Apt though.

Flooding Trade

Polly Ticks says … Independent Switzerland tries to slow EU freedom of movement thru its border. EU threatens open trade agreements. What IS independence today?

Guru Tony says … As the UK’s Somerset Levels drown, neglected for weeks of flood and storm, flooding in the Thames Valley brings immediate action. Hhhmm.

Open Door Fracking

Philip Osophy says … UN calls for the EU to open its doors to Syrian refugees to avert disaster. Surely better to give help & resources in countries they’re in.

Guru Tony says … Brit PM’s idea of using 100% of business rates from fracking to bolster local govt spending takes cynicism to a new low. Machiavelli lives.

Polly Ticks says … A Canadian is to be the new Governor of the Bank of England. I can think of no other country that would shun its own nationals for a major post like this.
My Politics page

Guru Tony says … When the Church of England recently voted against women bishops nearly half of the ‘no’ votes came from women. This is not a gender thing, but Scriptural.

Prof Isaac Galistein says … Britain has seen massive flooding in the last week. This is what happens when too many flood plains are built on and flood defences force the water to fewer outlets.

FUTURE ZONE

PLANET YEARN: When StarDrive was invented
they yearned to reach the planet 20 light
years away. It offered so many resources;
and even though communication was near
impossible, they went in their millions.
Indeed, as soon as enough had left, the
species that had enslaved them went on to
colonise where they had come from.
Yearning made Capitalist planets so easy
to conquer.

THE EYE: The metronome beat out the
riff of time whilst the all-seeing eye
watched, lest we fall out of the riff.
The system was not perfect, for when it
blinked, so many fell, attempting to
catch up for eternity. We see them
briefly, translucently. And yes, they
may as well be dead.

RATTLERS’ TALE

MARRIAGE: ‘Marriage is anti-
evolutionary,’ said the scientist. ‘The
gene pool is enriched by spreading our
seed.’ The philosopher countered: ‘But
evolution has no order. Man is because
of love.’ The priest said: ‘Will one of
you please say I do.’ The lawyer rubbed
his hands together, greedily.

GENERIC: The teacher despaired as the 2
kids fought over 2 identical toy monkeys.
‘They’re the same,’ she said. ‘Who stole

***
THE PATH: The path looked so inviting.
They began to walk and never stopped as
life took them over. Had they had
binoculars to see the twists and turns,
wouldn’t it have been unfulfilling?
Both their tears and smiles said yes.

Polly Ticks says … Brutal cuts are turning local govt in UK into lackeys of central govt with no money left to make decisions themselves. This is the opposite to how services should work. Welcome to Britain by dictat.
My Politics page

Guru Tony says … Green policies in UK may as well be dumped as coal usage increases. Mindst you, ‘green’ is only used by govt inefficiently so as to ‘prove’ the only low-carbon option is nuclear. Which is wrong.
My Environment page

Pappa Razzi says … Penguin and Random House are to merge, making the world’s biggest book publisher. I’ve noticed as publishers get bigger, opportunities for innovation in writing decline. It’s called the death of culture.

KIND: He was always kind to his own kind;
