Mini Mag: Green

Polly Ticks says … Brutal cuts are turning local govt in UK into lackeys of central govt with no money left to make decisions themselves. This is the opposite to how services should work. Welcome to Britain by dictat.
My Politics page

Guru Tony says … Green policies in UK may as well be dumped as coal usage increases. Mindst you, ‘green’ is only used by govt inefficiently so as to ‘prove’ the only low-carbon option is nuclear. Which is wrong.
My Environment page

Pappa Razzi says … Penguin and Random House are to merge, making the world’s biggest book publisher. I’ve noticed as publishers get bigger, opportunities for innovation in writing decline. It’s called the death of culture.

GREEN SCENE

REPORT FROM GABRIEL: After the
hurricane hit the city they wiped
themselves down and carried on. This
is further evidence of lack of faith.
Technology allowed survival and
fear is reduced. It just was
not seen as Biblical.
***
Natural is best
But just what is natural?
That which is balance
***
CYNICAL: They were the perfect couple.
The pilot polluted, the nurse cured the
ills he caused. Let’s be cynical. Not
the balance nature intended.
***
To live with nature
But Paradise is so dull
When desires rule
***
AFTERTHOUGHT: She sat on the empty farm,
the animals, the plants, all gone,
frizzled away in the eco-disaster. Finally,
out of the bunker, she smiled at the
camera, wondering what the photographer
would taste like.

Polly Ticks says … Lib Dem leader says rich should bear brunt of recession. Had he not formed coalition with Tories he & Labour could have guaranteed it. Fool!
My Politics page

Pappa Razzi says … Brit govt has withdrawn threat to storm Equador embassy to arrest Julian Assange. Good. It was a disgusting attack on diplomatic privilege.
My Media page

Major de Ranger says … Radical steps needed to feed the world by 2050 due to water shortages, say scientists. Are wars over water a possible route to major conflict?
My Warfare page

GREEN SCENE

Violated man
Battered, scorched, starved by planet
In extinction mode
***
GREEN: Teacher was green. She’d failed
to make the kids eco-aware. Globules of
sweat appeared on her face as the
hurricanes roared. Sickly green.
***
Traditional fare
‘Twas eat, drink & be merry
While the planet wept

Polly Ticks says … Study finds Brit democracy in decline due to Big Biz & apathetic voters. They’re related. When MPs become Big Biz lackies, voters turn off.
My Politics page

Guru Tony says … English Heritage to finally build Stonehenge visitors’ centre and close nearby road. At last the services will do this site justice.
My Stonehenge page

Dr Illya Ness says … Average family needs £37k for decent living – way above most incomes. When small group earns high, average wage goes too high for poor. As prices rise to the average, they get poorer.

GREEN SCENE

Environ-mental
We abuse our habitat
Call planet a friend
***
TORRID: Global warming was complete.
Torrid Earth. The cats rose supreme. Soon
the GM debate was on. Most cats were for
it. They loved grilled man.
***
I’m bored with the news
Green issues disappearing
Heads in sand again

Polly Ticks says … With a new govt in France, the rosy Eurozone is not so sweet as divisions arise with Germany. Not only does the Euro need affluence to work, but also a love affair between old foes. It couldn’t last.
My Politics page

Pappa Razzi says … As shares tumble I notice Facebook is not appearing the ultimate money maker once thought. Good. Maybe the kid can get back to running a social network rather than dreaming of ruling the cyberworld.

GREEN SCENE

Universal love
Reason for life, diverse, whole
And in death, renew
***
PRIVILEGE: Privileged tycoons. Huge
gardens, encroaching on their big homes.
The destroyers of nature love them.
Garden waits the day, angry, ready …
***
Celebrate nature
Attached by unbreakable
umbilical cord
***
TRAPPED: As night came, they were trapped on
the top floor. They could hear rustling below.
Outside, the trees undulated menacingly, the
rest of the city gone as nature grasped
consumerism. But such a sparse commodity,
man. A branch smashed a window …
***
Locked out of nature
Wander through concrete, detached
Attitude is key

Mini Mag 101

Polly Ticks says … So, the UK govt wants to sell off our roads and motorways for private running. Alongside the Bill to Privatise the Health Service by the Back Door, I’m wondering when the govt itself will be privatised. Oh – damn! – it’s already run by Big Biz.
My Politics page

Guru Tony says … This year’s Brit Budget was unashamedly business friendly, with low paid workers given extra spending power with a rise in tax allowance. But how to pay for it? Easy. Freeze the allowance of 5 million pensioners. What do they spend anyway? It leaves a bad taste in the throat.
My Economics page

GREEN SCENE

The one is as the whole, nature knew.
Man did not. So as man anthropomorphised
nature, nature aped tempestuous man –
’til he was no more.
***
In wealth we were green
In downturn, selfishness rules
Transition of fools

ESSAY: KINETIC NATURE – Could the planet have a self defence mechanism? Warming causes a more violent climate. This involves changes in electromagnetism. It is known that electromagnetic bombardment of the brain can cause hallucinations and mystical experiences. Spirituality seems to be on the increase, with accompanying eco-awareness. So is the planet fighting back by affecting our minds? Slow Rapture.

Blogger Bard says:
Everyone is green
Nature thrives – safe for all time
I do like fiction
***
TRANSITION: The Alchemist searched long
for perfection and immortality. He knew
the means of his success could be found
everywhere, but where? Why couldn’t he
see? He sat and meditated by a tree for
so long he died of old age. The ground
took him; the roots consumed. He lives
now with the eternal sages; in the
wisdom of the great oaks.
***
So eager to buy
Yet … eager to save planet
But … eager to buy

ACCIDENTAL: He sat in the space station; looked down on Earth – its acid rain, hurricanes swirling the dense smog. It WAS an accident, the last man convinced himself.

Mother says we’re wrong
Severed nature’s nourishing
umbilical cord

SECRET: He was a new species. Oh, that secretive foodchain! And when the non-biodegradable waste got into it and into us … Part human, part plastic bag.

BRICKS: Between the dark and the daylight the fellow walks the brick road with brick walls all around, longing for green to sprout, sun to shine, jailed.

We are all like Poe
Bricked into our mapped out lives
A premature death

FUN: Children’s hour comes. They burst out of themselves and frolic, play, laugh. Leave restraint and run thru fields. Then back to adulthood, sated.

My Green Poems
Carnival goes on
Party all the time is good?
No wonder we’re bored

PASS ON BY: Oh, the courage needed to pass on by; end up raw, unwrapped. But she did it – walked straight past the hypermarket to the proper shops.

Stand up to the fight
Hit them fully with the jaw
Words always better

CARNIVAL: Meat had become a rare resource since its banning. As the vegetarians gathered the carnivores looked forward to their feast.
