Guru Tony says … I’m not a fan of Piers Morgan but the idea that a petition could lead to expulsion from a country for non-violent views is, to me, horrendous. Send him back to the UK? America, keep him. Please keep him.
My Media page

Polly Ticks says … Lib Dem leader says UK must stay in European Union. Typical of a deputy Prime Minister who has made a laughing stock of democracy with his pact in the Coalition govt. Very European Union.
My Politics page

Pappa Razzi says … Gerry Anderson has died at 83. Creator of Supermarionation, his hit TV series of the 60s – Fireball XL5, Stingray, Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet – were groundbreaking successes & inspired many, including me. He will be missed.
My Sci Fi page

THE CRIME POST

WATCHING: The thief watched the
festivities, preparing for what he had
to do. The ghost of his past justified
his life – too many Scrooges had ruined
it for him. The ghost of the present
then showed him thousands of other
victims who had overcome it. He was not
impressed. Hence, as the warder turned
off the TV and ordered him to his cell,
he continued to be the ghost of
his own future.

Newgate hanging tree
Infamous to gallows swing
Birth of Gala Day
***
OFFEND: He was determined to con the
girl at the party – to offend. Indeed,
he told so many lies that soon his
long false nose became redundant.
***
When years aren’t new
But just a different number
You are standing still

Polly Ticks says … Lib Dem leader to claim he prevented deeper welfare cuts. If he hadn’t become Cameron’s little helper in the Coalition the Tories would never have got this far. Bah, humbug.
My Politics page

Guru Tony says … Hello. I’m here. The world didn’t end. Apocalpyse fever can rest a while. Self hate will return shortly, no doubt. Now, who knows the difference between a prophecy and a calendar?
My Paranormal series

Snowman speaks … Well, I’m going to miss Christmas in the UK again. No traditional weather for the Brits. Still, never mind. I’m there in spirit. So have a Merry Christmas one and all.
My Religion page

SANTA SPECIAL

IMAGINE: ‘It’s all relative,’ said the
Tycoon, ‘ Economy=Manufactured Consumerism
squared.’ The spirit of Christmas was dazed.
He remembered the beautiful Past, but hated
the Present. However, as he birthed a new
formula for the Future he sent Godel to haunt
the Tycoon with the truth that math doesn’t
add up. Suddenly Tycoon knew his system was
all imagination and he didn’t want to take
credit. ‘Bah, humbug!’ he said, and ate turkey.
***

Should snow at Christmas?
‘There’ll be no snow tonight,’ said
Mary to Joseph
***
NEUTRAL: As Santa passed the homeless
man he sent 3 policemen & 3 social workers
bearing gifts. The man, no longer neutral
& sad, birthed happiness.
***
Time for relations
Nothing keeps families as one
Like being snowed in

Polly Ticks says … 1 in 8 of people in England and Wales were born elsewhere, says the 2011 Census. Globalisation is dissolving borders and identity, yet society does not seem to be catching up.
My Unity page

Guru Tony says … Gay marriage gets go-ahead in UK, but religions cannot be compelled to do the ceremonies. This is the correct balance between rights on all sides.
My Religion page

Pappa Razzi says … Much has been said about the tragic death of nurse, Jacintha Saldanha, but some things not. What was so funny about an ill, pregnant woman being in hospital? Was tragedy inevitable? Yes! At some point this kind of prank was bound to end in tragedy. To what extent does corporate manslaughter apply? And I hope Kate and baby are alright.

READ WITH MUMMY

INSECURE: The barriers were thin
between the material world and that of
spirit, knew the adept; whereas the
scientist was secure in his knowledge
that there was no barrier at all. And as
they entered the haunted house he was
sure to prove it – until the ghost
appeared. The adept knew, as the scientist
crumpled, that the barrier between
secure and insecure was also thin.
***
Three wishes he had
Fame, fortune – and the last one?
Wish for no wishes
***
UNDENIABLE: When they took the babies
home in the snowman suits they were
undeniably gone. At least, abduction by
snowman was more seasonal than aliens.
***
The ghost lived again
Such a wasted, tragic life
He had wished for Hell
***
THE DRIVER: He drove his Land Rover
down the narrow country road again and
again. He was often seen; he always
looked at the other drivers. One day
he’d see the driver who killed him, and
neither would ever be seen again.

Dr Illya Ness says … UK Chancellor’s austerity package bites again with a 1% cap on out-of-work benefits. The clearly physically disabled are immune, but what of mentally disabled, M.E. sufferers, etc? Purged again.
My Illness page

Polly Ticks says … Brit Lib Dems trashed in by-elections as extreme parties gain ground. The latter? worrying. The former, deserved. I hope it will be a long time before they’re forgiven for entering this undemocratic coalition govt.
My Politics page

Pappa Razzi says … Leveson Report on media standards wants an independent regulator enshrined in law, risking press freedom. An alternative: a fund and support to allow those wronged by media to automatically sue.

Blogger Bard says:

TREE HOUSE: He withdrew to the tree
house; sat cross-legged, his head in his
hands. Life had caught up again. Time
passed and his friends began to appear;
talk with him, taunt him, reason things
out. The darkness increased – he hit rock
bottom – then … a glimmer of light. He
clung to this until his friends faded.
Putting the pills away, he climbed down
and reconnected with life.
***
He is such a pain
Staring into my bare soul
My reflection scorns
***
HOMESTEAD: He looked at the old car.
Said to the salesman: ‘Well, I lost my
job, mortgage, respect. I’ll buy. Though
it’s smaller than my last home.
***
The window pain grows
Life outside cracked, distorted
He shatters, like glass
***
THE LIFE: He carried the world on his
shoulders; held up continents on his back.
So full of life, all thrived under his
influence; his natural warmth so comforting,
inspiring. Yet the effort took its toll,
until, just a dwarf of himself, his light
extinguished, it all fell apart. Yes,
he was a star – our sun.

Polly Ticks says … A Canadian is to be the new Governor of the Bank of England. I can think of no other country that would shun its own nationals for a major post like this.
My Politics page

Guru Tony says … When the Church of England recently voted against women bishops nearly half of the ‘no’ votes came from women. This is not a gender thing, but Scriptural.
My Religion page

Prof Isaac Galistein says … Britain has seen massive flooding in the last week. This is what happens when too many flood plains are built on and flood defences force the water to fewer outlets.
My Environment page

FUTURE ZONE

PLANET YEARN: When StarDrive was invented
they yearned to reach the planet 20 light
years away. It offered so many resources;
and even though communication was near
impossible, they went in their millions.
Indeed, as soon as enough had left, the
species that had enslaved them went on to
colonise where they had come from.
Yearning made Capitalist planets so easy
to conquer.

Creativity
When ideas flow we ride

***
REPROACH: After scanning Earth the
alien declined first contact. Intelligent?
What was thought to be doll-like androids
turned out to be celebrities.
***
I want it, need it
I have to have it now, but …
Forgot what ‘it’ is
***
THE EYE: The metronome beat out the
riff of time whilst the all-seeing eye
watched, lest we fall out of the riff.
The system was not perfect, for when it
blinked, so many fell, attempting to
catch up for eternity. We see them
briefly, translucently. And yes, they
may as well be dead.
