Guru Tony says … Brit living standards don’t seem to be recovering. Of course they’re not. We aimed too high and lived above our means. That’s why we’re in the present economic pickle.

Polly Ticks says … Tory Chief Whip resigns after insulting a policeman. Chancellor caught in 1st class train carriage when he paid for 2nd. Churchill used to have dummy actors to portray him. Now we just have the dummies.

Major de Ranger says … UK seems to be saying no to US plans for a pre-emptive strike against Iran, denying use of bases in Cyprus, Ascension Is & Diego Garcia. Good. Iran has no nukes yet, so let us not over-react again.

READ WITH MUMMY

AMITY: I’m in that Amity place. It’s
dark. I feel cursed as the horrors mount,
as fear grips my very being. Then I
remember: the horrors are part of my being
– the flipside of my joy. Yes, I’m in
that friendship place.
***
Wise woman knew best
Which way to do this, do that
‘Til man took over
***
VOLLEY: ‘Twas a volley of trickery that
night – until the kids disappeared. Note
to children: make sure occupant hasn’t
just died before knocking.
***
The veil becomes thin
Ghosts of Halloween are seen
In many a dream
***
LAST KISS: It was the last kiss. A rainy
day by the side of the road. It felt like
heaven. Then we parted; she into the
oncoming traffic – thinking of me, and
not the car that killed her. And now, as
my blood drains, I know the last kiss
will be for eternity.

Guru Tony says … Fear of global unrest as weather and prices cause low grain stocks? No, there should be enough. The problem is distribution due to ‘me’ economies.
My Environment page

Major de Ranger says … UK scandal as it’s known that 3,500 military personnel go to jobs in arms companies. With their training, where else would they go? They always have.
My Warfare page

Polly Ticks says … Agreement made for Scotland to have vote on independence by 2014. Not sure it’s a good move, but if they go, I’ll wish an old friend well.

FUTURE ZONE

KIND: He was always kind to his own kind;
kill any other kind who threatened them.
Nature acted in kind. His gene pool became
so depleted, soon there were none of his
kind left at all. Which was poetic, in a
kind of way.
***
Conscious – not alone
I, you, we, us, them – one – all
We are universe
***
FORGET: Round & round the universe, thru
time I go and forget. Round & round the
mistakes go, repeating, never learning.
Round & round goes life.
***
The pressure was great
Crushed by forces – no light shines
Black Hole of his life
***
MULTI-GOD: The Great Architect of the
Universe had many faces. With his all-seeing
eye he saw man’s habits and rituals and
always blew his top. He had many faces, but
they were usually angry.

Polly Ticks says … Tories ask: should out of work get benefits for too many kids when workers can’t? Wrong!! Low paid workers get same tax credits as out of work.

Pappa Razzi says … Half of this year’s shortlisted books for the Booker Prize are from independents. A good sign that major publishing must change or go bust.
My Media page

Guru Tony says … Abuse witchhunt moves into all things 70s pop with stories of gropings. Is it moral to place today’s morals on the past? If so, very few would be innocent.

Harry Fang says:

FREE: No such thing as a free lunch? I
never believed it, so I went to one. Okay,
they were strange and I was wrong. I never
even got to eat me.
***
I wait by the bridge
Don’t seek me, and DON’T look down
I’m your vertigo
***
CRISP: She sat alone, the city empty.
The air was crisp. Static. As if? Around
her the bodies were burnt crisp.
Apocalypse crisp. Survival: Day One
***
My shroud is total
My memories, thoughts and life
Essence of your death
***
LIGHT: The cottage light illuminated
the lawn, the trees beyond, dark. Suddenly,
the bulb went. He changed it, terrified.
The new light illuminated the trees
by the window.

Pappa Razzi says … Deceased BBC presenter and fundraiser Sir Jimmy Savile is at the centre of sexual abuse allegations. A police investigation in 2007 got nowhere. I don’t know whether he was an abuser or not. And we will never know. There can never be a trial. But trial by media is always wrong.
All I will say on the matter is this: we give people fame and expect saints. There is no such thing. But why the interest now? Prior to the Murdoch debacle in the hacking scandal, commercial media was building up to an attack on the BBC, which take too much of their trade. This has the stench of a witchhunt – and continuance of the strategy. Stand by for a full scale attack on everything BBC.

RATTLERS’ TALE

SCARECROW: He stands at the crossroads;
scary but made of straw. You can pass
into the depths; they can enter you.
Only your sanity recognises, and
keeps terror at bay.
***
A fresh idea
Nurture, roll in the mind – do!!!
My mind commands pen
***
GREEDY: Her face sparkled like gem stones.
He caressed her, greedily, wanting to
mount her. Finally, he drove his pick
into ice and began to climb.
***
Houses? Had many
My wife, my children and I
Home goes where we go
***
VAPOURS: The 17th century physician
diagnosed all the ladies with an attack
of the vapours. Doctors rarely bathed then.
He didn’t realise they were his own.
